Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has locked in a multi-year deal to modernize Air France-KLM’s data outlook, taking their 30-year partnership to a whole new level. The project’s goal? Turn Air France-KLM into one of the world’s most data-savvy airline groups. Over the next three years, TCS will shift Air France-KLM’s core data, from passenger information to flight operations, onto a cloud-based, AI-ready platform designed to streamline operations and better customer experience.

What’s the Plan?

Air France-KLM’s shift to the cloud isn’t just about ditching bulky data centers. By embracing the cloud, the airline group will improve decision making, cut operational costs, and adapt quickly to industry changes. Plus, this aligns with their sustainability goals. With an advanced, flexible data setup, they’ll not only strengthen day-to-day efficiency but also make better, faster choices in areas like flight operations, customer service, and aircraft maintenance.

Data-Powered, Customer-Centric Aviation

The partnership goes beyond tech, it’s about creating a smarter travel experience. TCS has already worked with Air France-KLM on digital innovations like mobile apps, digital queuing, and even boarding pass collection via social media. Now, the focus is on transforming their entire data system to be more responsive and adaptable. The airline’s EVP and Group CIO, Pierre-Olivier Bandet, calls it a “new and exciting chapter,” talking about the role of data in meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

More Than Just Numbers

With a fleet of 551 aircraft flying to 320 destinations across 100 countries, managing data efficiently is no small feat. This project is set to tackle the challenge head-on by consolidating data that’s currently scattered across multiple systems, ultimately making it easier to extract actionable insights.

TCS shares are trading at Rs.4,130.30, down 0.50% today. The stock is up 8.38% YTD and 22.14% over the past year.

Conclusion: For TCS and Air France-KLM, this cloud journey is more than a tech upgrade, it’s being a future-ready, agile airline that can offer travellers a more personalized experience. With cloud power fueling efficiency and sustainability, Air France-KLM is redefining what it means to be a data-driven airline.
