Automakers Posted Mixed Sales Numbers in July 2024

In July 2024, automobile makers witnessed mixed sales. Maruti and Tata Motors' sales numbers recorded falls of 4% and 10%, respectively.

India holds a dominant position in the global heavy vehicles market as it is the largest tractor producer, 2nd largest bus manufacturer, and 3rd largest heavy truck manufacturer in the world. During July 2024, most of the automobile manufacturers recorded a mixed sales number on a YoY basis:
In July 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,75,041 units. These include 1,40,354 domestic units, 10,702 sales to other OEMs, and 23,985 export units.
Tata Motors recorded domestic sales of MH&ICV in July 2024, including trucks and buses, stood at 11,174 units, compared to 13,291 units in July 2023.
In the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 41,623 vehicles in the domestic market, a 15% growth, and 42,012 vehicles overall, including exports.
TVS Motors posted a growth of 9% in total two-wheeler sales, with sales increasing from 312,307 units in July 2023 to 339,676 units in July 2024. Domestic two-wheeler sales registered growth of 8%, with sales increasing from 235,230 units in July 2023 to 254,250 units in July 2024.
During the month, Hero MotoCorp achieved its highest monthly global dispatches for this year and has registered a growth of nearly 33% in the April-July 2024 (73,733) period compared to the corresponding period in FY’24 (55,430).
Escorts Kubota recorded domestic tractor sales of 5,346 tractors in July 2024, a growth of 3.6% compared to 5,161 tractors sold in July 2023.
