India’s benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, declined on October 30, 2024, breaking a 2-day winning streak amid mixed global signals.
The Sensex closed down by 426.85 points (0.53%) at 79,942.18, while the Nifty50 dropped 125.99 points (0.51%) to 24,340.85.
FMCG, capital goods, and media sectors recorded gains between 0.5% and 2%, while banking, pharma, and IT sectors each saw a 1% decline. The BSE Midcap index ended flat, but the small-cap index rose by 1.5%.
Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 31 closed in the red. Major decliners included Cipla, Shriram Finance, Infosys, HDFC Life Insurance, and Trent, with losses of up to 4.03%. Conversely, Adani Enterprises, Tata Consumer Products, Hero MotoCorp, Britannia Industries, and Maruti Suzuki India were among the 19 gainers, rising up to 3.74%.
As of October 30, 2024, at 3:42 PM, Brent Crude was priced at $71.50, marking a 0.53% increase.
