5G User Base Surges to 285 Million Ahead of Jio Platforms IPO

On October 14, 2026, Jio Platforms filed its Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) for its proposed initial public offering (IPO), highlighting its dominant position in India's digital connectivity landscape.
The company's subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), reported a massive 5G customer base of 284.9 million as of June 30, 2026.
This makes Jio the third-largest 5G customer base in the world, achieved through the fastest 5G rollout globally, reaching pan-India coverage in just 15 months.
5G Leadership and Network Scale
In Fiscal 2026, approximately 60% of India’s wireless data traffic was carried on Jio's network. As of June 30, 2026, Jio was the leader in digital connectivity in India, with 1.4 times the 4G+5G subscribers of the second-largest player in the country.
Spectrum and Infrastructure
Jio holds 26,800.8 MHz of spectrum with an average remaining life of approximately 15.8 years. It is the only operator in India to have spectrum in low-band, mid-band, and millimetre wave (700 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26GHz) for 5G across all circles, enabling deep indoor coverage and high-capacity fixed wireless access.
Operational Network and Digital Progress
Jio's wireless broadband network covers more than 99% of India's population. The company has developed a proprietary, end-to-end 5G standalone (SA) technology stack, making India only the fifth country globally to possess such indigenous 5G capability.
