Jio Platforms ARPU Climbs to ₹215.6 as Premiumisation Gains Pace Ahead of IPO

Ahead of its proposed IPO, Jio Platforms' Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) reveals strong monetization metrics, driven by a consistent increase in customer engagement and a strategic shift toward higher-value plans.
For the three months ended June 30, 2026, Jio's ARPU increased by 3.26% to ₹215.6, up from ₹208.8 in the same quarter last year. For Fiscal 2026, the ARPU stood at ₹214.0, up from ₹206.2 in Fiscal 2025.
Customer Base Expansion
The total customer base grew to 533.3 million as of June 30, 2026. The company added 8.9 million customers on a net basis in the quarter ended June 2026, and 36.2 million during Fiscal 2026, demonstrating sustained market leadership.
Data Consumption and Engagement
Per capita data consumption reached 43.7 GB per month in the quarter ended June 2026, up significantly from 37.0 GB per month in the year-ago quarter. This indicates higher engagement and a growing willingness among users to upgrade to higher data allowance packs.
Premiumisation Strategy
The increase in ARPU is attributed to industry-wide tariff rationalization, higher consumer engagement on integrated digital services, and the migration of users to premium 5G and fixed broadband plans. Features like unlimited 5G data allowance and integrated OTT content (e.g., JioHotstar) encourage consumers to recharge at higher denominations.
