DII Net Buying Slips to ₹6 Lakh on June 16 as FIIs Sell Shares Worth ₹749 Crore

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued to remain net sellers in the Indian equity market on June 16, 2026, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) recorded marginal net buying, according to provisional exchange data. Despite the institutional flow trend, benchmark indices extended gains for the 3rd straight session, supported by favourable global cues and buying in select heavyweight stocks.
DII Net Buying Hits Historic Low of ₹6 Lakh on June 16
As per the exchange data, FIIs net sold equities worth ₹749.18 crore on June 16, 2026. Foreign investors purchased shares worth ₹13,887.15 crore and sold shares worth ₹14,636.33 crore during the session.
Meanwhile, DIIs remained almost neutral with net purchases of ₹0.06 crore (₹6 lakh). Domestic institutions bought equities worth ₹13,553.36 crore while selling shares worth ₹13,553.30 crore.
For the calendar year so far, FIIs have remained net sellers of nearly ₹3.42 lakh crore, while DIIs have recorded cumulative net purchases of around ₹4.40 lakh crore.

Indian Stock Market Performance on June 17
Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the fourth consecutive trading session on Wednesday.
As of June 17, 2026, at 11:42 AM, the Nifty 50 was trading at 24,079.90, up 90.75 points or 0.38% from the previous close.
On Tuesday, the Nifty 50 closed at 23,989.15, up 0.57%. During the day it was facing resistance at 24,000 levels.
Conclusion
Foreign investors remained net sellers in Indian equities on June 16, while domestic institutional activity remained largely neutral. Despite the institutional flow pattern, benchmark indices extended their winning streak for the fourth consecutive session and currently trading in green today.
