Maruti Suzuki Gains Market Share in H1 FY27; Tata Motors Rises and Hyundai Loses Ground

Passenger vehicle wholesales in India increased 28.3% to 26,37,067 units in April-September 2026, against 20,55,122 units in the same period last year, according to Moneycontrol report citing the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The figures cover dealer dispatches and exclude certain luxury car manufacturers.
Maruti Suzuki's Market Share Rises
Maruti Suzuki India’s market share reached 40.96% in the first half of FY27, compared with 38.71% a year earlier. The increase of 2.25 percentage points follows a decline to 39.26% in FY26, when competition from SUV-focused manufacturers affected its share.
The company recorded higher dispatches after increasing production at its new manufacturing facility. Demand for small cars, SUVs, and CNG-powered vehicles also contributed to the increase.
