On Monday, the benchmark indices were trading in the green with the Sensex up around 140 points or 0.18% at 80,657, while the Nifty-50 was up around 62 points or 0.25% at 24,562. About 1,605 shares have advanced; 1,762 declined and 132 are unchanged on the BSE.
Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index:
The top Sensex gainers were HCL Technologies Ltd, Ultratech Cement Ltd and NTPC Ltd while the top Sensex losers were Tata Steel Ltd, Axis Bank and Asian Paints Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading mixed with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.17% and the BSE Small-Cap Index down 0.17%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Crisil Ltd and MRF Ltd. In contrast, Tanla Platforms Ltd and SpiceJet Ltd were the top small-cap gainers.
The BSE Oil & Gas Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Realty Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Oil & Gas Index gained by 1.18%, up by Gail (India) Ltd and Oil & Natural Gas Ltd while the BSE Realty Index plunged by 0.50%, down by Sunteck Realty Ltd and The Phoenix Mills Ltd
