Debt SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) mutual funds allow investors to invest in fixed-income securities through regular, systematic contributions. These funds primarily invest in bonds, government securities, and money market instruments.
Debt funds experienced moderate growth of ~7% in FY 2024, reaching assets of ₹12.62 lakh crore, after contracting 2% and 9% in FY 2022 and 2023, respectively.
In November, assets of income/debt-oriented schemes surged to an all-time high of ₹16.86 lakh crore. The sector saw inflows of ₹12,916 crore, with low-duration funds receiving 34% of the total net inflows within the debt category during the month.
