Coal Production in October 2024 Reached 84.45 Million Tonne: Coal India Shares in Focus

On November 01, 2024, the Ministry of Coal reported a significant increase in coal production, reaching 84.45 million tonnes (MT), up from 78.57 MT in the same month last year—an increase of 7.48%. Production from captive and other entities surged to 16.59 MT in October 2024, compared to 11.70 MT a year prior, reflecting an impressive growth rate of 41.75%. Cumulatively, coal production for the fiscal year to date has reached 537.45 MT, up from 506.56 MT during the same period in FY 2023-24, representing a growth of 6.10%.

Coal dispatches also experienced a robust increase in October 2024, totalling 82.89 MT, a rise of 4.60% from the 79.25 MT recorded in October 2023. Dispatches from captive and other entities climbed to 16.18 MT in October 2024, compared to 11.83 MT in October 2023, marking a growth of 36.83%. Cumulative coal dispatches for FY 2024-25 reached 571.39 MT, up from 541.51 MT during the same period in FY 2023-24, reflecting a growth of 5.52%.

The Ministry of Coal is dedicated to ensuring a reliable coal supply to meet India’s energy needs, with a continued focus on enhancing production, optimising logistics, and supporting the nation’s energy objectives.

Coal India Limited recorded a growth of 2.3% in coal production to 62.5 MT as compared to 61.1 MT. Coal India shares opened at ₹458.00 and touched the day low of ₹435.50, reflecting a fall of 3.26% against the previous close.
