Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, a leader in Oral Care, has introduced the Oral Health Movement, a groundbreaking initiative to improve oral health awareness and accessibility across India. This effort highlights Colgate’s commitment to prioritising oral care as a vital part of overall health, supported by science-led innovations and ecosystem partnerships.

AI-Enabled Dental Screening Tool

At the centre of this initiative is an AI dental screening tool developed with Logy. AI. Users can access a free, AI-powered dental report by:

  • Scanning a QR code on Colgate products or dialling 8806088060.
  • Answering a few questions and uploading three mouth images via WhatsApp.
The service is available in nine Indian languages to ensure inclusivity.

Partnership with the Indian Dental Association (IDA)

Colgate has joined hands with the Indian Dental Association (IDA), creating a network of 50,000 dentists. Post-screening, individuals can access free dental consultations to address their concerns.

Extensive Outreach and Community Programs

The Oral Health Movement will span retail stores, schools, corporates, and bus stations across India, delivering free dental screenings to millions. Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® (BSBF) program, active since 1976, has already reached 180 million school children. This year, partnerships with state governments in Uttar Pradesh and Goa aim to further impact over 2 crore children in Uttar Pradesh and 2 lakh in Goa.

Key Findings: Oral Health in India

A 2023 study by Colgate and Kantar highlights significant oral health challenges:

  • North India: 18% report toothaches; only 10% visit dentists annually.
  • East India: 27% experience toothaches; 22% face gum issues, 60% above the national average.
  • South India: 9% visit dentists yearly, but 14% report toothaches.
  • West India: Advanced dental procedures are common; 16% face toothaches.

Mass Media and Influencer Campaign

To amplify the movement, Colgate has launched a nationwide campaign across TV, digital platforms, and on-ground activations. Influencers are also encouraging more people to prioritise oral health.
